Urethritis is inflammation (swelling and irritation) of the urethra. The urethra is the tube that carries urine (pee) out of the body. Your child's urethritis is likely caused by irritation to the urethra. Follow these instructions to help them feel better.

What causes urethritis in children? Urethritis in young kids usually is due to irritation from soap, bubble bath, laundry detergent, trauma, or not cleaning well after going to the bathroom. Less often, it's caused by an infection.
What are the signs and symptoms of urethritis from irritation? Urethritis from irritation usually leads to itching and discomfort of the urethra. Less often, it can lead to pain when peeing.
